12th November 2018 | Prof. Christoph Herrmann is a new member of the Executive Board of the Fraunhofer IST

Professor Dr. Christoph Herrmann, Head of Internationalization at OHLF, has responded to the call of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and has been a member of the Executive Board of the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST since November 1, 2018, alongside Professor Dr. Günter Bräuer. At the same time, Mr. Herrmann will continue to head the Institute for Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology (IWF) at the Technische Universität Braunschweig and head the Internationalization at OHLF.

26th October 2018 | Lightweight structures and mobility: research is becoming more international
Second scouting trip of the Open Hybrid LabFactory to the Tongji University in Shanghai

From October 11th to 18th, a scouting trip to Shanghai took place by a delegation from the Open Hybrid LabFactory, OHLF. The OHLF is building up their international activities with China as one of their target regions. The aim was to strengthen the ties with the School of Automotive Studies (SAS) at Tongji Uni-versity, a partnership which has been established in a first meeting in April this year.

Learning from China

In order to intensify the partnership between the two universities, which has existed for more than 30 years, the TU Braunschweig has opened a local office in the premises of the Chinese-German House on the Siping Campus of the Tongji Universi-ty in the presence of the President of the Tech-nische Universität Braunschweig, Prof. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla and the Vice-President of the Tongji University, Prof. Zhiqiang Wu.

18th April 2018 | International Collaboration on Hybrid Lightweight Structures between German Forschungscampus Open Hybrid LabFactory and A*STAR’S SIMTech

Singapore, 18 April 2018 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Open Hybrid LabFactory (OHLF) Germany, and the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), a research institute of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), was signed today at the Precision Engineering Centre of Innovation (PE COI) Annual Conference. The collaboration aims to establish a globally recognised competence for Lightweight Structure technologies across the entire value chain of the automotive and aerospace industries in Germany and Singapore. OHLF and SIMTech share a common vision of promoting lightweight design and fabrication for the sustainability of the manufacturing sector.

26th March 2018 | LeichtbauCampus: Two new friends from Down under – The Open Hybrid LabFactory starts new collaborations with in Australia

Hybrid lightweight construction saves raw materials and energy – and is therefore a topic of the future for engineers around the globe. As part of its internationalization strategy the Open Hybrid LabFactory of the TU Braunschweig is now expanding its partner network with two re-search institutions in Australia: the „Carbon Nexus“ cluster in Geelong and the University of New South Wales in Sydney. The two new alliances are part of the „Asia Pacific“ initiative – as previously the collaboration with partners in Singapore.

18th August 2017 | Combining expertise in lightweight structures – Technical universities in Chemnitz and Braunschweig intend to cooperate more closely

The TU Chemnitz and the TU Braunschweig intend to merge their expertise and strengths in lightweight structures research within one year. This shall be carried out by the integration of the Federal Cluster of Excellence “Technologies for Multifunctional Lightweight Structures” (MERGE) at Chemnitz University of Technology and the Research Campus “Open Hybrid LabFactory” (OHLF). Both sides signed a cooperation agreement on 17th August 2017.

26th June 2017 | „Open Hybrid LabFactory – Asia-Pacific“ – BMBF funding for international cooperation with clusters along the value chain of hybrid lightweight structures

The Open Hybrid LabFactory e. V. is pleased about the positive evaluation of its contribution to the funding measure “Internationalisierung von Spitzenclustern, Zukunftsprojekten und vergleichbaren Netzwerken” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The cross-sectoral and cross-technology funding strengthens the international orientation of the research campus in the long term. Subsequent to a conception phase, the aim is to initiate international research projects. The Open Hybrid LabFactory focuses on cooperations with clusters from the dynamic Asia-Pacific region.
The internationalisation is a joint project of all current and future players in the research campus. Members and partners from science and industry will find new innovation potential and market access along the value chain of hybrid lightweight structures. Particular emphasis is placed on the development and implementation of appropriate measures for and with small and medium-sized enterprises.
